200 Internet Connection

Pursuant the Board of Director’s memo of 9/14/11, Castle Village Internet Cable installations will begin in building 200 on Wednesday, October 26th.

The installations will be performed by experienced installers working for Panix, the company that will be providing the Internet service. The workmen will be accompanied by Castle Village staff during the installation when no one is home. The installation involves extending a cable from just outside and above your apartment entrance door to a convenient location in your home where you have your main computer or router set up (a router is required for wireless computing). This point should be no more than 50 feet from the entrance and, for best results, should be centrally located for wireless computing. The cable will be run along your baseboard or picture frame molding and terminated in a jack that resembles a typical phone jack and is best located near your baseboard molding. If you are not going to be home during the installation, please make it clear where you want the jack to be installed by leaving instructions and markers.

The intention is to complete 12 to 16 installations per day starting at the penthouse level and moving down the building one to two floors per day. The table below shows the schedule the workmen will try to follow. The schedule might change once the work begins and completion times are established. Keeping to the schedule also relies on your cooperation. Please make your apartment available on the days that correspond to your floor. Please call the management office to confirm your appointment and to let us know how access to your apartment will be arranged. If you cannot provide access during the time allotted for your floor, let us know in advance and we will try to accommodate your schedule. Installations can also be arranged on weekends and after work hours by in-house staff.

Wednesday, 10/26 – PH, 10th & 9th
Thursday, 10/27 – 8th, 7th & 6th
Friday, 10/28 – 5th, 4th & 3rd
Monday, 10/31 – 2nd, 1st & Sublevel

PRECAUTIONS/PREPARATIONS
• Please clear a path to where you would like the jack placed and remove furniture and breakables from the walls.
• If there is heavy furniture that you have trouble moving, let us know in advance so staff can be prepared to help.

You are not obliged to have the cable installed but you will not be able to access the Castle Village Internet Service from your home without it. There is no charge for the installation at this time. If you elect not to install at this time, please reconsider as there may be costs associated with installation later.

Let us know if you were a VZAvenue subscriber. If your cable is intact, you can check your connection by simply plugging the old cable into your computer or router. You should be able to reach the web site http://castlevillage.panix.com (and nothing else). If you can, you will not need to make an appointment and you are ready to go once internet service is activated. If you cannot reach this site, let us know and we will check the connection.

Residents of 200 – Internet Service

The Point of Entry for Lightower’s Fiber Optic cable that will be providing Castle Village with Internet service will be at the northeast corner of your building.
On Tuesday 10/25/11, a trench will be dug in the street from the ECS manhole on the corner of 186th Street to a point perpendicular to the 6-line bay window. The trench will continue toward the building from that point. This work will involve noise due to the demolition of the sidewalk and trenching of the street. The contractor will mobilize for the job on Monday 10/24. Several parking spaces will be lost in the area of work from Monday to Tuesday. The contractor expects to complete the work in one day.

The management of this building, in keeping with it’s policy of maintaining all equipment in top shape, has contracted with Rosenwach Tank Company, Inc. to CLEAN the existing water tank. Sorry for the inconvenience, but the WATER SUPPLY WILL BE TURNED OFF ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH from 9AM-4PM.

Please take all precautions to provide adequate water for sanitary facilities, and please close all faucets.

In order to protect the city’s water supply, the Dep’t. Of Environmental Protection requires that all residential buildings the size of Castle Village install Back-Flow Preventers at the point where the service enters the building. Ashokan Plumbing has been contracted do this work. Your building is scheduled to be done on Thursday March 31st and connections will be made in the afternoon.

200 Exterior Work – 3 Line

On Wednesday, March 16th, the scaffolding by the 2-line will move to the west face of the 3-line as indicated below. The work is intended to address mandates Local Law 11 repairs as well as reported leak conditions along these drops. Apartments affected along the west facade of the 3-line include: 23, 33, and 53. Considerable noise will be generated as a result of the demolition required at these locations.

If you are experiencing water infiltration from the exterior and have not reported it to the office, please do so immediately. If a scaffold drop is scheduled in the same area as your leak, we may be able to address it at this time. Work will start at 8:00am and will close at 6:00pm Monday thru Friday. If necessary, quiet work will be allowed on Saturday.

Keep your windows closed to avoid dust and debris from entering. Air conditioners will be protected. Please take precautions to avoid possible damage to window and adjoining wall decorations by removing breakable items from these areas. Because of the bonded wall construction of our buildings, damage to interior surfaces of your apartment may occur during demolition. Any damage to the interior will be repaired.
