The doormen are on duty from 7 a.m. until 1 a.m. They are an integral part of our security system. They are stationed at the door to ensure that only authorized visitors and workmen enter our buildings. If the doorman asks you to identify yourself, do not be insulted. Do not engage in extended conversation with the doormen as it distracts them from their duties.

All visitors must be announced. If you arrange to have anyone enter your apartment in your absence, leave written authorization with the doorman and/or with Management.

If you hold a large party, you must give the doorman a guest list or arrange to have non-resident visitors escorted from the front door. This is to prevent strangers from gaining unauthorized entry by tagging along with the flow of guests. For the same reason, “open house” method of sales is not permitted.

The doorman is responsible for enforcing these and other applicable House Rules. These include the requirement that workmen show authorization passes to enter (see WORKMEN) and the requirement that tradespersons and all persons with bicycles, large articles, or animals use the service elevator (see ELEVATORS).

Complaints and requests for service or information should be made to the Management Office, not the doorman.

Among the services you can expect the doorman to perform are opening doors for residents and their visitors, and escorting them in from the street with an umbrella when it is raining. The doorman should also help residents with luggage and other packages within reason as they arrive at building entrances. The doorman must be in sight of the door at all times.
