Forwarding CV Email

When you register for an account on the castlevillage.org Google Apps site, one of the services you’ll be able to use is a full-featured email service — essentially the same as Google’s Gmail, but with a castlevillage.org email address.

Most of you will already have your own email service, however, so you have a choice:  either use your castlevillage.org email address as our primary service, or have your castlevillage.org mail forwarded to your existing service.  If you’re not that happy with your current service, you may want to consider the former.  Google’s Gmail is consistently ranked as the web’s top email service, and you can access it from just about any device (web, iphone, blackberry, palm, outlook) you may use.

If you’re happy with your current service, however, it is very simple to have mail that goes to your castlevillage.org address to be forwarded to your current service:

Here’s how to forward messages automatically:

  1. Sign in to Gmail.
  2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page, and open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  3. Enter the email address to which you’d like your messages forwarded.
  4. Select the action you’d like your messages to take from the drop-down menu. You can choose to keep Gmail’s copy of the message in your inbox, or you can send it automatically to All Mail or Trash.
  5. Click Save Changes.

You also can set up filters to forward messages that meet specific criteria. You can create 20 filters that forward to other addresses. You can maximize your filtered forwarding by combining filters that send to the same address.

Either way, we think you’ll be thrilled with the new mail service!
